I gotta say, I wasn't too thrilled about this restaurant when my friend Cheryl picked it. Our best friend Lauren was visiting from SF and Cheryl wanted to impress! After all, New York is known for amazing food, right? The photos and reviews on Yelp didn't win me over-- I didn't feel like there were many vegetarian options. The good thing is that when I go out with Cheryl and Lauren, they always make sure I have enough to eat (and no, we're not talking salads here). Cheryl kept talking about Buvette's steamed eggs all weekend! I really thought to myself, "how good can eggs get?" Boy, you don't even know, until you've had their Chevre steamed eggs! I've never had anything like it! So simple yet so amazing! The egg on the Asparagus Milanese was perfectly done, still runny. We spread the yolk onto the toast underneath, and ate it with the soft asparagus. The Avocado Grain Toast was delicious - unlike other restaurants, Buvette served it with whipped yogurt (it's not on the menu, our waiter told it to us as a special). The Belgian Waffle was tasty nonetheless! With all our savory eats, we wanted something sweet to go along wtih it.
Portions are very small- appropriate, as Buvette is a French restaurant. I really enjoyed this little gem. Next time, I will be back to bring Annie here!
