Gilt Bar really is one of my favorite restaurants in Chicago. Connie and I have been here numerous times and it's definitely a place we'll keep coming back to. The restaurant setting is darker (for a more romantic vibe), which is why we've always had problems taking photos here. BUT, nonetheless, we still have to show you this great place. I do want to mention, since we didn't order any drinks that night, this place has fantastic cocktails. On a typical Thursday/Friday/Saturday night, Gilt Bar is packed. Pimm's Cup and French 75 are my fave, but I've heard all their drinks are tasty.
We recently discovered the Roasted Garlic & Balsamic with Baguette - it's sooo good. The roasted garlic spreads like butter on the crispy baguette and the balsamic is on the sweeter, more syrupy end. It's delicious and a great way to start the meal! We ordered two salads this time and they're both so refreshing. We always get the Avocado & Arugula Salad and we love it. We also ordered the Roasted Cauliflower and Charred Brussels Sprouts, delicious, but a bit salty for both our tastes. The HIGHLIGHT of our meal was (and always will be) the Truffle Pasta. HOLY CRAP. This pasta is so rich and flavorful. The truffle taste is not overpowering. This is not a light dish, there's so much butter and cream in this pasta, definitely not an everyday meal, but when you're looking for a treat, THIS IS IT. I could probably eat the whole thing myself, but we had to share with three other people, boohoo. I keep coming back to Gilt Bar just for this pasta, and it's worth it every time. The other dish I was pleasantly surprised by was Mushroom Risotto! I love the huge chunks of wild mushrooms and the creaminess of the risotto - probably one of my favorite risottos actually.
I always leave this place stuffed and so happy. It's a bit pricier, but not unaffordable. If you haven't tried this place yet, YOU HAVE TO! It's too good to not try, AND they take reservations...how amazing! Sometimes on OpenTable it might show limited availability, so we always call the restaurant to make sure. You won't be disappointed!
